Northport's 13th annual Dog Parade is Saturday, Aug. 11.

The theme for this year's event is "Happy Trails to You, Get Along Little Doggie." Voted the people's choice second best parade in northern Michigan (after the Cherry Royale Parade in Traverse City), the Dog Parade will begin at the Mill Pond on Third Street at 1 p.m.

Registration begins at noon; early registration is suggested. There is a $5 entry fee per dog to be eligible for a prize. Costumes for dogs and their escorts are encouraged.

The new parade route will travel down Third Street to Rose, then right on Nagonaba before continuing along the same route used in previous years.
