The Lake Leelanau native is an artist in residence this summer at the Old Art Building in Leland. The lecture touched on the importance of light while creating a portrait and other fundamentals, including the importance of the “5 to 8” rule made popular by Fibonacci in the 18th century. Many attendees brought their own pencils and paper to draw along with Petroskey.
Petroskey, who has a book coming out next year, will give another lecture and slide presentation on Aug. 8. For more information, call the Old Art Building at 256-2131. Petroskey’s paintings can be viewed at www.oldartbuilding.com.
