OK, so I was misinformed; Elaine Wilcox is still 79 until October. But she did have a birthday party. Go figure.
When watching Cabin Fever at Boone Docks, wish them a happy anniversary. This year they have been together for 25 years. They got their start at Art's Bar back then and the rest, as they say, is history.
When working out at the Glen Arbor Health Club, wish Linda Gretzema a happy birthday. This Saturday, go to Glen Arbor Emergency Services and enjoy the open house.
Happy anniversary to Shelly and Dorn Yeager. I think it's been 24 years, and Shelly took Dorn out for a hot dog to celebrate. Great idea.
The Glen Lake Woman's Club Art Fair was it's usual great success. The club awarded $10,000 in scholarships this year and the scholarship winners assisted the fair by helping exhibitors in setting up, carrying, pricing, etc. Scholarship dollars come from the Art Fair and this was the first year that the recipients helped out. There was 100 percent participation. This year’s Art Fair profited $13,000, which will be put in the 2008 scholarship fund. I call that a success.
The next club meeting will be held on Wed., Aug. 1, at the chapel at Old Settlers picnic grounds. Speaker will be Dr. Brent Blackwelder, Friends of the Earth, who will talk on global warming and biofuels.
Don't forget the Glen Arbor Women's Club first annual "Running Bear 5K Run/Walk and 1/2 mile Kid's Run" on July 31. Staging at Cherry Republic, registration begins at 8:15 am. Any questions, call Lynn Becker at 334-6102.
So far this has been a good summer; different, but good.
I'm hanging in there, Go Sox.
