Walter G Cramer
A memorial service will be held today, July 26, at 2 p.m., at the Leland Community United Methodist Church, with burial at a later date in the Trinity Episcopal Church of Bay City, for Walter George Cramer who died July 22 at Effie’s Assisted Living in Leland. He was 92.
He was born Aug. 24, 1914, in Pigeon, the son of Edmund and Hattie (Schmidt) Cramer. His wife, Lorraine, survives.
He attended the School of Music at the University of Michigan and enjoyed a long career as the band and orchestra director at Bay City Central High School, and as choir director at Trinity Episcopal Church of Bay City. He retired to Boca Raton, Fla. He was a prolific poet and also loved golf, gardening and bridge.
Also surviving are his children, Mary Kay (Gary) Davis, Linda (Doug) Mahin and Tom (Marilyn) Cramer; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
