Classical guitarist Daniel Quinn will present a benefit concert for a Guatamalan school mission project on Aug. 12 at St. Philip Neri Church in Empire.
A freewill offering will be taken. Doors will open at 6 p.m. in the parish hall for a silent auction preview. A silent auction and dessert will follow the concert.
Quinn will be performing work by Mexican composer Manuel Ponce, and Spanish favorites by Albeniz and Tarrega. The second half of the program will feature music from Japan and will conclude with the epic solo The Legend of Hagoromo by Keigo Fujii.
Quinn holds a doctoral degree in classical guitar performance from Indiana University, where he was an instructor for nine years. He has performed extensively in the U.S., States, Canada, Japan and England and currently teaches guitar at the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, Ind., the Fine Arts Academy at Grace College, and the FAME arts camp.
