The Glen Arbor Art Association’s Summer Singers will present a free concert Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church in Burdickville.
The 45-voice choir, which draws its members from Leelanau, Grand Traverse and Benzie counties, will sing a widely-varied program of secular and sacred music ranging from American composer Randall Thompson’s well-known The Paper Reed by the Brook, to John Rutter’s Distant Lands, to a new vocal jazz arrangements by Jeff Cobb, former director of choral activities at Traverse City’s Central High School and Summer Singers director Richard DeVinney.
This is the fourth summer for the choir, which was formed to give full-time and summer residents of the area a chance to gather for two hours of singing choral music each Tuesday for eight weeks.
The public is invited to attend at no charge.
