A hole-in-one and a double eagle were recorded by golfers at Sleeping Bear Golf Club last month.
On Monday, July 16, Lee Jones of Maple City aced the 141-yard fourth hole with a 7-iron. Jones’ playing partners were Todd Kelly, Gary Hecht and Len Swanson.
On Saturday, July 21, Dan Darland of Detroit had a two on the 565-yard par-5 ninth hole. He holed out with a 5-wood on the hole for the double eagle, which is also called an albatross and considered more rare than a hole-in-one. Course pro Chris Wakeman said Darland was playing the course by himself at the time.
