Twelve-year-old Parker Kokowicz of Glen Arbor won his second tournament in a row last weekend — the Northern Michigan Junior Open in Traverse City.
Kokowicz, son of Paul and Adriene Kokowicz, was seeded No. 1 and downed Austin Hirchman of Sarasota, Fla., in the first round, 6-0, 6-2. Next, he dispatched the No. 3-seeded Zachary Phillips of Harbor Springs, 6-0, 6-4.
Parker won the championship by defeating the No. 2-seeded Luke Gamble of Costa Rica, 6-3, 7-4.
Kokowicz’ next tournament will be the Ann Arbor Junior Open next week. Last month, he won the U.S. Tennis Association’s North Country the week of Aug. 6.
