Steiner and Sigwalda Garthe of Northport were honored recently at a garden party on their family farm to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.
Family and friends gathered at the party for food, fellowship and special music provided by Sam Faught, Nina Nelson and Emily Dalzell Wilson, who sang I Love You Truly. Emily Wilson was the vocalist at the couple’s wedding 60 years ago.

Siggie Garthe was a homemaker and a dietary manager at Leelanau Memorial Health Center for many years.
The couple’s six children include Eugene (Gene) Garthe, Steiner (Chris) Garthe Jr., Gertrude (Trudy) Garthe, Sally Stenvig, Carol Berendsohn and Bonnie Shiner. They also have 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
