Elmwood fire millage request is trounced

Voters were clearly unhappy with a request to increase property taxes to fund the Elmwood Township Volunteer Fire Department, overwhelmingly turning down a 1.572-mill proposal at a special election held Tuesday.
NorthStar to host college soccer teams

The NorthStar Soccer Organization will host two female collegiate soccer teams in pre-season scrimmages next week in Traverse City.
Ferris State University and Concordia University of Minnesota will square off at the Keystone Soccer complex Tuesday at 4 p.m., and Concordia will face Saginaw Valley University Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Annual Port Oneida Fair is on tap Friday, Saturday
