Students from three Leelanau County high schools contributed research and writing skills to the recently published Wood Boats of Leelanau by John C. Mitchell.

Asher Carlson from Leland; Cazamera Ruholff, Codi Yeager and Ian Vertel of Glen Lake; and Sarah Berendsohn, Cecilia Kohler, Abby Van Dusen, Matt Kehl and Matt Mitchell of Northport all participated. Teachers Ben Post and Dan Stowe coordinated student efforts.

The students received a $100 savings bond from the Leelanau Historical Society, which published the book. Wood Boats of Leelanau is available from local book sellers and through the LHS museum store at 256-7475.

The society’s Wood Boats of Leelanau exhibit runs through September.
