The Leelanau County Farmers Markets are celebrating “family day” at each of its four markets during the week of Aug. 16 through 22.
In an effort to encourage families with young children to visit Leelanau Farmers Markets, al limited number of cash coupons will be distributed to families with children visiting each market. Customers may redeem the coupons with any vendor during the week of Aug. 16 to 22.
For the next month, the availability of fruit, vegetables and flowers will be at the season’s peak. Some of the produce currently available at the markets include: sweet corn, tomatoes, green beans, blueberries, apples, cucumbers, potatoes and flowers.
The following is a list of the market locations and times:
• Empire — downtown near the post office, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturdays through Sept. 29;
• Glen Arbor — behind the township hall, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesdays through Aug. 28;
• Leland — parking lot across from the Bluebird Restaurant, 8 a.m. to noon, Thursdays through Sept. 13;
• Suttons Bay — corner of Lincoln and Broadway, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturdays through Oct. 13.
