Subscription tickets are now on sale for the 2007-08 Beyond the Bay film series.

Starting its ninth season, Beyond the Bay offers new international and independent American films in a subscription series.

This year’s series opens Sept. 9 and 10 with the Irish film, Once, winner of the Audience Award at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and winner of the Founder’s Prize at the 2007 Traverse City Film Festival.

Other films in the series include the award-winning Canadian film, Away from Her, starring Julie Christie, slated for October. The 2007 nominee for Best Foreign Language Film from Denmark and Sweden, After the Wedding, will be shown in November. And the award-winning French comedy, Avenue Montaigne, will be shown in December.

Each film will have three screenings – Sunday at 3 and 6 p.m.; and Monday at 6 p.m. – at the historic Bay Theater in Suttons Bay.
