Over the latest two-week period, only 19 new building permits have been added to a file available for public review at the Leelanau County Building Inspections department.

Estimated construction values associated with the 19 new permits totaled $1,314,679. That brought the year-to-date total value of permits issued to $16,909, 594.

The estimated construction value of permits issued so far this year is down more than 43 percent from the same time last year. The number of permits issued so far in 2007 is down more than 25 percent compared to this time in 2006.
