Five animated movies about the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore that were created this summer by local youngsters will be premiered Tuesday afternoon at the park’s visitor center in Empire.
The Art Place (TAP), an animation studio in Suttons Bay, took 16 students to live and work at an historic farmhouse in the park in June. The students were asked to respond to the “Who, What, When, Why and Where” of the National Park in their own backyard, according to TAP co-director Chris Allen-Wickler.
The premiere showing of the animated movies will take place at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21. The event is free and open to the public. Digital video disks of the animated movies will be available for purchase to benefit The Art Place. For more information, call 326-5134.
