The Cherryland Humane Society (CHS) will host Meet Your Cherryland Humane Society Day on Sunday, Aug. 26 at its facility in Traverse City.

The event, scheduled from noon to 2 p.m., will mark the society’s 51st anniversary and the fifth anniversary since moving into its facility, located at 1750 Ahlberg Rd., in Traverse City. The educational open house is aimed at promoting responsible, proper pet care, training and grooming.
Scheduled guest speakers include Grand Traverse County deputies with Jesse the Narcotic Dog and Brutus the Bomb Dog; trainer Laura Salvatore with Strengthening the Bond with Your Dogs through Training; and Dr. Jim Karstsinas, supervising veterinarian and financial advisory on the CHS board of directors, who will give a presentation on proper pet care.

There will also be tours given of the facility, a drawing with giveaways, entertainment, food and beverages.
