Good News: The post office is getting a new roof, due in part to a generous donation from Leelanau Wine Cellars.
Along with the donation, the winery also offered a short-term loan that will allow us to complete the job this summer. Yes, it needs to be done soon and we are in need of your help. Soon you will see a donation box in the village. The money collected will be earmarked solely for the new roof. Or, you can contact any Omena Village Preservation Association board member to make a donation. We would like to thank you in advance for any contribution you can make, as we all would like to see this project fully funded and completed before fall. All contributions are tax deductible.
The new board members of OVPA have assumed their responsibilities, as of Aug. 1. The present board consists of Denise Turner, Sam Knoll, Joan Kalchik, Sally Viskochil, Mary Coste, Heide Biederman, Kim Kemper, Mary Tonneberger and Paula McMenamy.
Did you know that Leelanau had it own theme song? Recently, in the Enterprise, Amy Hubbell gave us the background, lyrics and sheet music for the song. Seems there is always something new to learn about Leelanau history.
