1941-2007

Services were held yesterday morning, Aug. 22, at St. Mary's Parish of Lake Leelanau, for Joseph Edward Kohler of Suttons Bay who died at his home on Aug. 17. He was 65.
He was born Sept. 27, 1941, in Flint, the son of the late Leo A. Kohler and Bernadine A. Dobis who survives. On July 14, 1962, he married Diana Mary Wilson, who survives.
A carpenter and a farmer, he was known as a hard worker and a man of faith and deep love for his family.
He is also survived by his nine children, Douglas A. (Norman Smith) Kohler of Portland, Ore., Joseph E. (Susan) Kohler of Suttons Bay, Elaine S. (Joseph) Stachowiak of Imlay City, Heidi A. (David) Priest of Northport, Denise D. Wheeler of Mesick, Bethany L. Kohler, Christopher L. (Amanda) Kohler, Joshua D. (Jennifer) Kohler and Alexander P. (Cynthia) Kohler, all of Suttons Bay; eight siblings, Bernard (Sylvia) Kohler, Laurene (Roger) Stroh, Jeanette Huddleston, John (Linda) Kohler, Leo (Karen) Kohler, Albert (Rose Ann) Kohler, Dianne (Diz) Dalzell and Robert (Maria) Kohler; and 27 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley A. Kohler.
