A Maple City man who allegedly broke into a Suttons Bay area home and threatened one of the occupant’s pets was charged with first degree home invasion.
Bradley M. Schettek, 19, 11080 S. Maple City Rd., was arraigned in 86th District Court before Judge Thomas J. Phillips on charges of first degree home invasion and domestic violence. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 7 at 11:30 a.m. He is currently lodged in the county Jail on a $75,000 cash bond.
According to court documents, Schettek allegedly broke into a Suttons Bay home at around 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 18 and allegedly attacked the lone occupant. During the attack, Schettek allegedly threatened to harm a cat.
If found guilty of the first felony charge, Schettek faces a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison and or a $5,000 fine. If found guilty of the second misdemeanor charge, he faces a maximum penalty of up to 93 days in jail and or a $500 fine.
