The Land Information Access Association is seeking entries for its "Best Places of Grand Traverse" photo essay contest, to help celebrate the one-year anniversary of YourPlace magazine.

Photographers are invited to showcase aspects of the region’s unique natural and cultural surroundings, and provoke thoughts about how it can be preserved, through submission of photography and accompanying essays.

Entrants may submit up to three photographs for competition in four categories: natural landscape, urban scene, place to recreate, and people at work. Prizes totaling $1,200 will be awarded. Deadline for entries is Sept. 17.
