Building permits top $18 million

Values still 43% below 2006 pace.

The number of building permits issued over the past two weeks has remained low along with the estimated construction value of the permits.

For the year to date, the number of permits issued by the Leelanau County Building Inspections department remains down nearly 22 percent from the same time last year. In addition, the estimated construction value of the permits remains down more than 43 percent.

Over the latest two-week reporting period, only 22 new permits were added to a file available for public review at the Inspections department, bring this year’s total so far to 316 permits issued. Combined, the 22 permits represented an estimated $1,235,504 in construction value, bringing the total so far this year to $18,145,098.

Following is a list of projects for which permits have been issued, listed by the community in which the work is being done:

VILLAGE OF NORTHPORT: Martin M. Easling Trust (Easling Construction), one-story commercial cold storage addition at 955 N. Mill St., $68,157.

VILLAGE OF SUTTONS BAY: Richard D. Zahler (David G. Knight), one-story manufactured single-family residence on basement with porch at 225 N. Lincoln St., $104,812.

BINGHAM: Quality Associates (Raymond Schettler), one-story gazebo at 5675 S. West Bay Shore Dr., $4,913.

CENTERVILLE: Rauland F. and Sherry A. Deeg (Peter Leabo), one-story covered porch for single family residence at 3615 S. Sunrise Ln., $1,372.

ELMWOOD: Robert J. McGinley (Pine Grove Homes), manufactured single-family residence on basement with attached garage at 11067 S. Ridgeback Run, $135,696; Katherine M. Conklin (Kim Randall Tezak), demolish single-family residence at 9395 E. Harbor Hills Dr., $1; Katherine M.
