Monthly parenting workshops based on Dr. Becky Bailey's book Conscious Discipline will be held monthly at four county schools, beginning in October.

Alycia Worthington of the Michigan State University Extension office in Leland will facilitate the workshops, which will include time to explore material with fellow parents and reflect on how they can use the information in real-life situations.

Parent groups meet twice a month – once for parents of early elementary school students, and once for parents with older students. Parents with children in grades 4-12 will meet the first week of each month. Parents with children age birth through third grade will meet during the second week of each month. Both parent groups will meet on the following days:

• Monday — Glen Lake School.

• Tuesday — Northport School.

• Wednesday — Leland School.

• Thursday — Suttons Bay School.

Child care is provided, and further information is available by calling 256-9888. The event is sponsored by Parenting Communities, MSU Extension 4-H, and the four public schools.
