Year-to-date totals remain down from 17 percent from 2006

The volume and value of building permits issued by the Leelanau County Building Inspections department has picked up slightly over the latest two-week reporting period. Nonetheless, year-to-date numbers remain significantly below those seen by this time last year.

Thirty-one new building permits have been issued since the last week of August with a combined estimated value of $2,244,699. The latest additions bring the year-to-date total number of building permits issued to 347 and the estimated value to $20,389,797.

The year-to-date total number of building permits issued remains more than 17 percent behind 2006 totals. Estimated construction values so far this year are more than 38 percent behind values recorded by this time last year.

Following is a list of projects for which permits have been issued, listed by the community in which the work is being done:
