Michigan Community Blood Centers has recognized 13 Leelanau County residents for achieving new blood donation gallon levels during August.
Janice Blackburn of Cedar has donated 10 gallons of blood. Douglas Pederson of Leland has donated nine gallons. Philip Cochran of Cedar has donated eight gallons.
Gail Westover of Maple City and W. Logan Hardie of Leland have each donated six gallons of blood. Ken Weiss of Leland and Kenneth Nash of Lake Leelanau have each donated four gallons.
Priscilla Cogan of Leland has donated three gallons of blood. Janet Taber of Suttons Bay has donated two gallons.
Amanda Welch and Rachel Stein, both of Maple City, have each donated one gallon of blood. Edward Krajewski and Brandon Blackburn, both of Cedar, have also donated one gallon each.
Michigan Community Blood Centers is the independent, non-profit blood bank that provides 100-percent of the regular blood supply to local hospitals in four major regions of the state including Munson Medical Center and its affiliated hospitals.
