Jack Miles Langston Inventor, Author, Entrepreneur, and International Pharmaceutical Executive
Born in Mexico City, Mexico in 1932, Jack grew up in Panama and Columbia, South America. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, he was an Eagle Scout, a graduate of Broad Ripple High School and the School of Pharmacy at Purdue University. At Purdue, he was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, President of Sigma Delta Chi, National Journalistic Fraternity, Editor-in-Chief of the Purdue Scientist and a member of the Gimlet Club. He was a Registered Pharmacist in Indiana.
He served as an International Marketing Executive with Upjohn International and Eli Lilly International Corporation and served in Canada, Central American, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Brazil, the United Kingdom and the United States.
He invented the Lexigrow Gardening Concept, a system of gardening which increases yields 87% while eliminating tilling, weeding and cultivating. He was the author of the book, Lexigrow, a New and Easy Gardening Concept. He was President and CEO of Lexitech International Corporation a corporate arm comprised by the Meeting Planning Plus, Lexigrow, and Plantech Divisions. He served during the Korean War as a Sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, NC.
Active in tennis, he was a member of the USTA National Champion Men’s Doubles Team in 1992.
He served on the steering committee that was instrumental in establishing the Indiana Chapter of Meeting Professionals International. He achieved the Certified Meeting Professional accreditation and was voted Planner of the Year in 1991. He served on the boards of the Indiana Chapter of MPI and the National Junior Tennis League, and was a member of ISES, the International Special Events Society.
Jack was an accomplished individual. He carefully set his course and executed his plan. However, his family was central to his life. He was always supportive of their endeavors. And, at every pinnacle in their lives he was never too busy to give accolades where they were due.
Jack Miles Langston is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry (Heiligmann Drybrough), his children, Gregory (and Beth) Langston and Geoffrey Langston, and his grandchildren, Bradley (and Eleanor) Langston, Brooke Langston and his step-sons Ralph Drybrough III and Andrew Drybrough.
Visitation is Monday, September 24, at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center- Broad Ripple, 1305 E. Broad Ripple Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46220. The funeral service will be Tuesday, September 25 at 12:30 PM at Trinity Episcopal Church, located at 3243 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 6050 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208.
