Docents to lead hikes

Two events are scheduled by the Leelanau Conservancy at two different locations on the next two Saturdays

The DeYoung farm in Elmwood Township is the focus of the first event, scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. Docent Dick Fidler will lead a hike around the natural area, which includes an old homestead, the Cedar Lake Trail and an upland portion of the property.

Hikers can also learn about nature’s adaptations for winter survival on a discovery walk at the Whaleback on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 10 a.m. The walk will be lead by docent Ann McInnis.

Registration is required for the events and may be completed by calling 256-9665.
