A Maple City man was arraigned last week on charges he attacked a relative with two knives.
Johnnie L. Medina, 49, of 78 E. Dusty Ln., Maple City, appeared in 86th District Court Friday on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, second offense domestic violence and habitual offender. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for tomorrow at 9 a.m. He is free on bond and his bond was continued.
According to court documents, on Sept. 24 a county Sheriff’s deputy and State Police trooper were called to Medina’s home and met with the alleged victim. The victim claimed Medina attacked him after he refused to tell him where another person Medina was looking for had gone. As a result of a struggle, the victim received wounds on his arms. Medina admitted to having a knife but not injuring the victim, court documents show.
Medina was previously convicted of felonious assault on April 14, 2001, in Midland County Circuit Court. On April 3, 1983 he was convicted of larceny in Collier County Circuit Court in Naples, Fla.
