The Leelanau Outdoor Center (LOC) will hold its first-ever fundraiser Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m.
The event will raise scholarship money for students to attend 3- to 5-day LOC sessions during the school year. Although LOC accommodates students from all over Michigan, camp director Clark Shutt said he expects most of the money gathered during the fundraiser will support scholarships for students from Leelanau County.
“We expect that mostly local people will attend this event,” Shutt said, “Kids from all four of Leelanau County’s public school districts come here every year.”
Admission to the “Harvest Celebration” event will be a donation of $10 per person or $25 per family. Activities will include a climbing tower, games, stories, a 4:30 p.m. concert featuring the New Third Coast Band, and a barbecue dinner.
To make reservations and obtain more information, call 334-3808. The center is located at the end of Port Oneida Road off M-22 in Glen Arbor Township.
