Glen Arbor Town Board Regular Meeting

September 18, 2007
Clerk Quick called the regular meeting of the Township Board to order at 7:30 PM, in the Glen Arbor Town hall Meeting Room. All board members were present, except Supervisor Soderholm. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The agenda was presented and approved as amended by motion. Minutes of regular meeting 7/17/07, special meeting 8/18/07 and Budget Hearing 9/12/07 were approved as amended by motion. Pubic comment – none. Deputy Rocky Cadieux reports YTD larceny (7), B&E (5), fraud (4), liquor violations (4). YTD for GA (48) total, County (774). Marine patrol finished for year and summary report will be next month. Treasurer’s report was given and accepted with cash on hand of $2,257,324.15. Bills for the General Fund for $21,895.33 were approved by motion. Bills for Emergency Services for $69,899.67 were approved for payment by motion. Fire Chief John Dodson presented monthly report, also available on website. The 9/11 Memorial Service was well attended. Federal wildfire training completed. Responses to a survey sent out by the Department to users of their service were very good and accompanied by donations and thank- you’s. No further negotiations with Empire regarding joint venture. Empire Lion’s Club invited Emergency Services personnel for appreciation dinner. Batterson reported that draft of budget was approved by ESAC. Zoning report by Hawley, 2 permits issued. Correspondence was received. Unfinished Business – Countywide meeting regarding township/county work relationship was attended by 3 board members and Dodson. PILT monies were part of discussion and reimbursement of fire/ambulance services. Many townships report that staffing hours are moving towards full time positions. New Business – Speed limit on M-22 – discussion regarding reducing speed limit and removing passing section. Awaiting Soderholm’s research with MDOT and county. MTA meeting Wednesday in Leland. Clerk informs board that to avoid late fees, time-sensitive bills for Emergency Services will be paid upon Chief’s approval; others will be paid according to current schedule (at monthly Board meeting). Public Comment – Streetlights and sewer smell in Glen Arbor. Adjourned 8:18 PM. Election Commission called to order 8:19 PM. Motion to appoint Dana Roman, Election Chair, Beth Bricker, Annette Lewis, Linda Gretzema and Dorothy Thompson to November 5, 2007 election. Motion carried. Election meeting adjourned 8:19 PM.
