In an effort to recognize students who stand out among their peers academically, athletically, artistically or in their attitudes, the Enterprise will feature two county students each month in a piece called Catch a Rising Star.

Students from Glen Lake, Lake Leelanau St. Mary, Leland, Northport, Suttons Bay and those living Leelanau but attending Traverse City West High School will be featured. Each school will provide a nomination to news editor Amy Hubbell, who will interview the student. Responses to questions will appear the second and fourth Thursdays of the month.

Each school will have the opportunity to recognize three students during the school year. We began this week with Zachary Hawkins.
