Dispute over student's testing could cost Northport $200,000

Northport Public School and the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District could be on the hook for up to $200,000 in costs related to an administrative law hearing being held at the request of the parents of a special education student.

Dining club to open season

The Lamplighters, a dining club open to all Leelanau County residents and their friends, has begun its 2007-2008 season.

Arty Party hosted by Bingham couple

Chuck and Donna Johnston of Bingham Township are opening their home for the eighth straight year for the "Arty Party", an art show scheduled for Oct. 24-27.

Jesuit to emphasis non-violent answers

The Rev. Norm Dixon, former pastor of Gesu parish in Detroit, will speak on "non-violence in our life from a faith and justice perspective" at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Michael church in Suttons Bay.

Students to help food coalition

Leelanau County students will host an "Empty Bowls" lunch to benefit the Northwest Michigan Food Coalition on Sunday, Oct. 21, at Suttons Bay School.
