The Michigan Land Use Institute will co-host a series of workshops, including one in Leelanau County, to help plan a 50-year growth strategy for the region.
An initiative called the Grand Vision will be the subject of at six workshops over the next six months. The first was held yesterday, Oct. 17, in Traverse City, in which planning and visioning experts identified how the region will look, feel and drive like if various building scenarios are enacted.
The institute is also working with the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce and Northwest Council of Governments in holding workshops for people who live outside of Grand Traverse County, but want to provide input about driving in an around Traverse City. The Leelanau County workshop will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Black Star Farms near Suttons Bay. Workshops also planned in Antrim, Benzie and Kalkaska counties.
