S-B theater to screen several animated 'shorts' on Oct. 28

The Bay Theatre in Suttons Bay will screen several animated "shorts" as part of International Animation Day on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.

Two animated shorts created by young animators from The Art Place (TAP) of Suttons Bay, and several additional animated shorts from around the world, will be shown at the hour-long event.

Admission is $3 per person or $10 per family, with proceeds benefiting TAP. A reception will follow at the Silvertree Deli.

Of interest is an 11-minute animation created by several members of TAP who spent a week in June living and working at an historic farmhouse in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

In addition, another local feature will be shown called Better Know a President, directed by 15-year-old Corrina Ulrich of Traverse City. It includes the work of 25 students and parents of TAP members who volunteered to create an animated portrait of each president of the United States.
