1921-2007

Services were held last week for Flora M. Heine of Lake Leelanau who died Oct. 9 at Munson Medical Center. She was 86.

She was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Wheeling, W. Va., to Wilbert and Ruth (Snyder) Miller. On Aug. 25, 1945, she married the Rev. Raymond A. Heine, who survives.

She was a 1943 graduate of Wittenburg College. She lived in Indiana and several Michigan towns with her husband who was a pastor at local churches. She spent the last 20 years in Leelanau County where she enjoyed all four seasons. She was an accomplished pianist, quilter and seamstress, and was very active in her church.

Also surviving are her son, Ward (Meg) Heine of El Dorado, Kan.; a daughter, Marian Pye of Livonia; a sister, Ruth Smith of Saline; four granddaughters, one grandson and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank R. and Wilbert S. Miller; and a sister, Marian Brown.

Burial was at Beechwood Cemetery in Leland.
