The entry deadline for a photo contest that showcases the Grand Traverse region's communities, cultural sites and natural resources has been extended until 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2.
There is no entry fee, and judged entries will have two components: a photo, and a description of 150 to 200 words. Winning photos and honorable mention selections will be displayed in an exhibition at the Grand Traverse Heritage Center next month in conjunction with National Geography Awareness Week. An opening reception is planned Nov. 14.
Entrants may submit up to three photographs and essays in four categories: places of natural beauty, places of cultural value, places to recreate, and places to work.
Entries may be submitted in person or by mail on a CD or DVD to: Place Your Photo Essay Contest, c/o Land Information Access Association, 324 Munson Ave., Traverse City, MI 49686.
