A federal judge has continued an order stopping the distribution of $1.5 million in federal funds in lieu of property taxes to compensate for Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore lands. Also, Gov. William G. Milliken provided the keynote address Monday during an official dedication of the park some 161⁄2 years after it was first proposed.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred F. Fraiser of Elmwood Township are to receive $4,000 from Leelanau County as the result of a suit filed against them last year by the Leelanau County Board of Road Commissioners, it was revealed in a decree filed Friday in Circuit Court.

Leelanau County’s board of supervisors last week approved a budget for 1953 of $89,156.77, the largest ever, and an increase of $4,082.87 over this year.

Members of the Elmwood Township board, after opening bids Monday night for first stage construction of the Elmwood town hall, decided all four bids were too high and scheduled a “negotiation” meeting for Wednesday night.

Maple City. Some people went to southern Michigan, and all returned excepting Mr. Borough. The Post Office is nicely located in the drug store.

Northport. Mrs. Phillips Howell, who has been quite sick for some time, is now much better. Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler, old residents of this township, now of Milwaukee, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Craker, of Omena.
