Ed and Janet Kasmer of Maple City celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, Oct. 5.

The couple was married on Oct. 5, 1957 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Detroit in a ceremony officiated by the Rev. Bertulio. The Kasmers moved to Leelanau County 36 years ago. Mr. Kasmer is a self-employed painter, and Mrs. Kasmer is a homemaker who worked for 10 years at Cherry Growers.

The Kasmers have four children, Debbie Gatzke of Traverse City, Jeanine Kasmer of Traverse City, Linda (Dan) Morrison of Yuba, and Angela Kasmer (Jon Bodfish) of Dexter, Mich. The couple also has eight grandchildren.

The Kasmers celebrated their anniversary at a party held Oct. 6 at the Maple City Lions Club hall.
