Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time for Anthony E. Bonse of Northport who died Oct. 27 at the home of his sister in Cheboygan. He was 82.
He was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Roseville, the son of Anthony C. and Helen (Voiland) Bonse.
Growing up in the Detroit area, he served in the South Pacific with the Seabees during World War II. He later worked as a logger in Maine, a carpenter in Grand Rapids, and retired from the railroad in Detroit as a switchman. For the past 20 years, he lived on the family farm in Northport where he enjoyed gardening and hunting. He was a member of the VFW post in Traverse City.
Surviving are six sisters, Frances Hill of Levering, Bernardine Post of Florida, Charlotte Martin of Cheboygan, Delores Seng of Milford, Lorraine Perry of Coldwater, and Mary Bonse of Maple City; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Dusa and Celeste Bonse, and a brother, Jerome Bonse.
Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of the Straits, or the charity of one’s choice.
