Funeral services will be held today, Nov. 1, at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Traverse City, for Leelanau County native Edith K. “Susie” Smith of Traverse City who died Oct. 27 at Grand Traverse Pavilions. She was 90.
She was born March 21, 1917, in Keswick, the daughter of Theodore J. and Florence (LaVance) Groesser. On Sept. 4, 1938, she married Frederick K. Smith who preceded her in death.

She worked for many years at Milliken’s Department Store, later volunteering at the Munson Gift Shop. She enjoyed knitting and sewing, and was an active member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.

Surviving is a son, Ted W. (Anne) Smith of Traverse City; a daughter, Judith A. (David) Amon of Williamsburg; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
