1927-2007

A memorial service will be held in Suttons Bay in the summer of 2008 for Robert C. Bremer Sr., “Cherry Bob,” who died Oct. 20 at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, Fla. He was 80.

He was born in Suttons Bay on Sept. 16, 1927, the son of Claus and Nellie (Sodergren) Bremer. His wife of 56 years, Mary, survives.

He was a 1945 graduate of Suttons Bay High School and served in the Navy during World War II. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1951. He was a member of the Sigma Epsilon fraternity, the Saladin Shriners and the Masons (Northport Lodge No. 265). He and his wife moved from Suttons Bay to Florida in 1996.

He is also survived by his two daughters, Susan (Mark) Wolanski of Dexter and Nancy (David) Heine of San Jose, Calif; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Jr.; and his two sisters, Jean Husby and Betty Bremer.
