BATA millage renewal passes easily

In an election marked by voters wanting to turn in another direction, it was cruise control Tuesday for the Bay Area Transportation Authority (BATA), whose request for a renewal of .35 mills for five years was overwhelmingly supported.

The Leelanau Enterprise this week filed suit in Circuit Court against the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners, alleging that the county board violated the state Open Meetings Act (OMA) by holding "closed sessions" on four occasions this year.
