A Detroit man could spend up to the 10 years in prison after he allegedly punched a woman in the face last month.
Willlie B. Reeves II, 52, of 8788 Mackinaw St., Detroit, was arraigned in 86th District Court on Friday on a charge of assault with intent to do bodily harm. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for tomorrow at 10 a.m. He is free on bond.
According to court documents, Reeves and a female companion were staying in a motel in Leland on Oct. 27. The couple started arguing about money and Reeves allegedly repeatedly punched the woman in her face, knocked her down, allegedly sat on her back, punched her in the back of the head and then allegedly attempted to strangle her with the cord of a cell phone charger, the documents said.
If found guilty of the felony offense, Reeves faces a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison or up to $5,000 in fines.
