A few days ago I spoke with Tony of Leelanau Cellars, and was pleased to find out that this year’s grape harvest was one of their best for both quality and abundance – as I hope the season was for all the growers in Leelanau. I also asked Tony about the progress of their building on M-22. Work is very near complete and they should be moved in by January, he said.

Recently Omena lost Wilma Ruth Hutchens Saums, mother to Joan Brown (Tatch Rd.) . Our thoughts and prayers are with Wilma and Wilma’s family. Wilma led a full and active life and is remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by many.

Omena’s Club 21 meets the first Wednesday every month. The next meeting is set for Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. at the museum in Omena.
