A Northport man could spend up to 15 years in prison after allegedly stealing pain medication from another man’s home.
Donald G. Small, 45, 15603 E. Cherry Park Rd., was arraigned in the 86th District Court Friday on a charge of second degree home invasion. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. He is free after posting 10 percent of a $1,000 bond.
According to court documents, on Oct. 30 a county Sheriff’s Department detective apprehended Small after he allegedly witnessed the man entering a home on E. Woolsey Lake Road. Small allegedly entered the home with the intent to steal pain medication. The detective witnessed Small in the residence removing pills from the victim’s kitchen cupboard, court documents stated. After apprehended, Small allegedly confessed to the detective that he had previously entered the home and had taken medication.
If found guilty of the felony charge, Small faces a maximum penalty of up to 15 years in prison and or pay up to $3,000.
