The classic tale of The Christmas Tree Ship and other pieces by local authors reflective of life Up North will be presented in four special holiday benefit performances of The Almanac of the North on Dec. 7, 8 and 9 at the Bay Theatre in Suttons Bay.
Lab and physical therapy services are now being offered in Empire by Paul Oliver Memorial Hospital.
Suttons Bay students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grades collected and donated 2,430 pounds of food to the Leelanau Christian Neighbors food pantry in Suttons Bay last week.
The St. Mary School Class of 2010 will host a Pancake Breakfast and Bake Sale on Sunday, Dec. 9 in the church social hall.
Breakfast will be served from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A goodwill donation will be appreciated.

The Doula program of the Women's Resource Center, which works with pregnant and parenting teens, is seeking volunteers to play a variety of roles in Leelanau and other counties in the area.
Through the first weekend of firearms deer season, hunters have been behaving themselves, according to state Department of Natural Resources conservation officer Mike Borkovich.
He's handed out 14 tickets for infractions involving deer, which speaks well of the civility of the hunt so far.
