The classic tale of The Christmas Tree Ship and other pieces by local authors reflective of life Up North will be presented in four special holiday benefit performances of The Almanac of the North on Dec. 7, 8 and 9 at the Bay Theatre in Suttons Bay.
Ticket sales will benefit the Leelanau Players Production Fund and the Inland Seas Matching Scholarship Fund.
“What we’ve done is taken the work of local authors … their prose, and turned it into dialogue,” said Scott Craig, an award-winning documentary film producer.
The program features many of the actors, scenes and music that made last season’s premiere presentation of The Almanac of the North a sellout, and given it a holiday twist.
Based on the words of Bruce Catton, Jim Harrison, Lynne Rae Perkins, Kathleen Stocking and Anne-Marie Oomen, dramatic scenes will be intermixed with musical interludes that relate to the stories presented.
“You get the feeling that you’ve been to a review,” Craig said. “All the pieces deal with life Up North.”
Special reserved seating is available Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7 and 8, at $50 per ticket and Sunday at $35 per ticket. General seating tickets are $35 on Friday and Saturday, $20 on Sunday. All children under age 12 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
