Private services have been held for former Northport resident Maxine Gene Batdorff of Traverse City who died Nov. 10 at Grand Traverse Pavilions. She was 90.
Born May 26, 1917, in Caro, she was the daughter of Clayton and Gertrude (Schlicter) Liebler. On Dec. 2, 1938, in Traverse City, she married Robert Austin Batdorff, who preceded her in death on April 22, 1986.
Raised in Northport, she was a graduate of Lansing Business College. During World War II, she worked for the British Admiralty in Washington D.C. where her husband was stationed. She was also formerly employed by the Traverse City Record Eagle and the Chamber of Commerce. She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church and in recent years attended Faith Reformed Church. Involved in many community service activities, she also enjoyed playing golf, tennis, sailing, dancing and listening to music.
She is survived by her children, Susan Westley of Delray Beach, Fla., Linda Dahl and Steven (Barbara) Batdorff, all of Traverse City; a step-mother, Bernice Liebler; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ward Liebler.
Burial was to be at Oakwood Cemetery.
