The Grand Traverse Heritage Center Festival of Trains opens Saturday, Dec. 15, at the center, located at 322 Sixth Street in Traverse City.
Co-conductors of the festival are Bill Kirschke and Rick Vandenberg.
“The Festival of Trains is a wonderful opportunity for the whole family to spend quality time together,” said Patti DeAgostino, executive director of the heritage center. “There’s nothing better than the big, bold sound of a train whistle.”
Admission is $5 per adult, $3 per senior citizens, $2 for students, and free for children six and under. There is also a family pass available for $20, which allows unlimited access to the festival.
The Festival of Trains will run through Tuesday, Jan. 1 and thousands of local residents, school children and visitors are expected to view the traditional model railroad car displays.
