Money, items stolen in break-ins

The county Sheriff's Department is investigating three breaking and enterings that occurred over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

On Monday, morning deputies responded to a call to Harbor West Marina and Blue Water Sail and Canvas in Greilickville to investigate the break-ins. Undersheriff Scott Wooters said the county dispatch center received a call at 7:33 a.m. Monday reporting that the back doors to the two businesses, which sit next to each other, were forced open. A cash box containing $200 was taken from the sail and canvas store.

“The break-in occurred between 4:30 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 a.m. Monday,” Wooters said. The matter remains under investigation.

On Friday a sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a seasonal residence on Waukazoo Street in Northport, where a property owner reported some items had been taken from his home.

Wooters said that until Friday afternoon, the owner had not been in the house since Sept. 19. At some point during the nine-week period, a garage access door was forced open and several bottles of liquor, a Japanese paring knife and three larger kitchen knives were stolen. The estimated value of the items is $450.

Wooters said all three break-ins remain under investigation.
