Services were held in Northport on Friday for Jarold Sidney Sobehrad of Northport who died Nov. 26 at Munson Medical Center. He was 79.

He was born on Dec. 30, 1927, in Chicago, the son of Jerry I. and Mae (Pelc) Sobehrad. On July 11, 1953, in Sebewaing, he married the former Patricia Ann Ritsema, who survives.

He served in the Army in Korea and retired from the Harnischfeger Corporation after 26 years of employment as an engineer and computer specialist. He enjoyed baseball, shooting pool, reading and working with his hands.

He is also survived by his children, Pamela (David) Stefancic of South Bend, Ind., John (Susan) Sobehrad of Temple, Texas, and Patricia (James) Lane of Fairfield, Conn.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Sobehrad.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity Church in Northport or to Habitat for Humanity.
